Steve Scott - Kendal Mountain Festival

We welcome Steve Scott, a Director of Kendal Mountain Festival (KMF) who will share some of his favourite, most thrilling, evocative and above all inspirational adventure films with us from the past festivals.

About Kendal Mountain Festival

'Kendal' sets the standard as an innovative, inclusive and creative celebration of everything outdoors. It is now the largest adventure film Festival in the world which attracts thousands of outdoor enthusiasts who interact with athletes, leading brands and hundreds of inspirational speakers who gather every year to share adventures and celebrate the very best in outdoor and adventure sports culture.

At the heart of Kendal’s rich programme is the International Film Competition, attracting premières from around the world – it has been called the 'Oscars of outdoor filmmaking'. Over 100 films are screened with many coveted awards selected by the esteemed Jury and the public.

Other highlights include the 'Kendal Mountain Literature Festival' which features the coveted Boardman Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature, the international 'Kendal Mountain Film Summit’ which welcomes 200+ industry professionals to an insightful programme of debate and presentations plus the now legendary 'Specialist Sessions’ which provide a core social gathering for the following categories – Climb, Bike, Snowsports, Mountain Running, Paddlesports, Underground (Caving), Adventure & Exploration and Outdoor Swimming. They really are events within the event!

The Kendal Mountain Festival vision is to inspire more people to explore, enjoy and represent mountains, wilderness and their cultures.

A former designer, creative director and a brand consultant, Steve has been a mentor and guest lecturer in higher education. His outdoor credentials aren’t too bad either – he was a professional national team skier, ski coach and an accomplished professional paraglider pilot - he lived in the Alps for over 10 years which saw him develop an anglo/french adventure sports school which covered snowsports, paragliding and climbing. His career subsequently took him to Scandinavia for 3 years where he trained with the word's best Telemark ski athletes in Norway, he toured with a pro Telemark demo team and coached junior ski racers at the Oslo Ski Club.

With his wife and co-director Jacqui, he now combines a busy life with their large family and a demanding work schedule growing the Kendal team and opening up new business opportunities with international partners. Steve is now on of the UK’s top presenters specialising in adventure sports culture; he regularly hosts events and presents on-stage both on Tour in the UK and at events overseas. He was recently invited to join a group of ‘Changer Makers’ by Patagonia inc. as part of a community of environmental activists for his work in developing 'Adventure Activism' events around the UK.
